[MR] 4th Peerage

Onto Atlantia, greetings.

It is my belief that the peers of the realm are to be the pillars of the SCA.  If I am wrong, please correct me.

But in that vein:

If tomorrow the Knights were gone, if the sun shone down and found no armour to shine on, if no war drums sounded, if the list fields stood empty, the SCA would be forever changed.

If tomorrow the Pelicans were gone, if the kitchens were empty, the mundane and annoying details left untended, if no one stepped up and did the work necessary for us all to enjoy the day, the SCA would be forever changed.

If tomorrow the Laurels were gone, if the glory of ancient art were not advertised, if keen eye and steady hand did not create new beauty from old ways, if no one stepped forward to teach us, to gift us and to remind us that we are looking to the past, the SCA would be forever changed.

If tomorrow I and my fellow Provosts laid down our blades and picked up the shield, the ladel or the pen, the SCA would not be much changed.  That is why it is my joy to be a Companion of the White Scarf, but I know I still have work to do to become a pillar.

It should be noted that our current Earl Marshal and his three most recent
predecessors have fought both Rapier and Armoured Combat. Two have been
Knights, Three have been White Scarves, with Sir Roland being both. From my
off-field observations, both activities require strength, skill, and
training to excel at.

That being said, I'm not a fan of a "Fourth" catch-all Peerage.
I'd also like to point out that there is already a 4th Peerage, our Royal
Peers.

All that being said, bless your heart Hrothgar, don't ever change. :) It was
good to see you at Ymir.
