Unto the Populace of Atlantia,

I would like to take a small moment of your time to clarify a few issues regarding the Pan-Peerage Petition that is currently being discussed. This petition is a continuation of the process that was begun in 2007. Please understand that this spans five sets of Kings and Queens, two Kingdom Seneschals, and now His Highness and Myself as Heirs. The petition is in no way a new R&D against Janos of Cyddlain Downs. There was a hearing before the BoD, a sanction was issued, an appeal was heard by the BOD, there were issues with the process, an appeal of the appeal was heard, and the BOD has given Atlantia the option of the Pan-Peerage Petition.

In no way is this petition meant to pressure members of the Peerage Orders to do anything. The Peers of this Kingdom, per society definition, are “those who, through talent, hard work, and long effort, have earned recognition for their contributions and skills”. The Kingdom and the Society are calling on those people who have contributed the talent, hard work, and effort that makes this organization so important to us all, to give their opinion on a very difficult situation. There is no retaliation or coercion, merely the Kingdom calling on its leaders to give counsel on a very important issue.

Each member of Atlantia has a different scope of knowledge concerning this situation. Unfortunately, that is the reality of a situation that spans multiple years and involves sensitive information. Please know that Atlantia would not be pursuing this course of action if there were another way. In terms of the Peers having no knowledge and being dragged through the mud, that is why the all Peer meetings have been held at Twelfth Night and Ymir. The meetings, along with correspondence on the Peer e-lists, have been an effort on the part of the Crowns to pass on the knowledge the BOD will allow us to share. In response to the statement “It also concerns me that I have seen these petitions
being circulated in a very targeted manor. I have seen a petition carrier walk past three Peers, to approach a 4th and get a signature”, I can not explain this. The petitions have been distributed to the e-list, they have been mailed or handed out to individuals who have requested them, etc. EVERY Peer has been asked to take the time to complete the petition, regardless of if they choose the option to agree, disagree, or have no opinion and return the petition to His Highness and I as the BOD has requested. Each petition we receive will then be sent as one packet to the BOD for their review.

I would like to publically state that there is NO claim, to Our knowledge, of "He attempted to force himself upon someone, but only got stopped when someone threatened with steel". This is a false rumor.

Anyone wishing to have more information need only to contact His Highness or Myself. We have encouraged all peers to hear all sides of each story before making their decision. The Kingdom is not acting based on rumor but based on firsthand accounts from people involved. We would never work off of rumor alone.

Regards,

HRH Esa Kirkepatrike
