I bring words from the Commander of the Northern Army, Duke Badouin, we
are supporting the Kings request for Mantles in the following manner.
If you have any questions please contact us. His grace has the file
extention and I can get a hold of it as well. We have to post it the
command list files also.
The following email was crafted for our command list, I thought it
would be easier for me to just cut in paste it.
We have several exmaples and some of you have seen some of the
commanders wearing these.
We are trying to get the word out to as many Nothern (or those who wish
to fight with the North) fighters as possible.
We wish to do our best to meet the Kings wish in this matter.
I remain in Service to Atlantia,
Sir Guy
<<Commanders of the Northern Army. Greetings from Duke Badouin
Mackenzie.
Soon, your regional Commander will be in contact with you directly
about Helm Mantles. Due to time constraints, the fact that the project
was in the pipeline, and other considerations, the mantles will be tied
to the helm, and will not at this time be the “bishop’s collar” shown
on the Mary Rose.
The mantle should be blue with a white Spiked Hippocampus (medieval sea
horse), image attached. Spike can be executed by painting, printing,
appliqué, or embroidery.
I will send embroidery patterns on request- I can save to most machine
extensions.
The Mantle is to be medium blue (halfway between Sky blue, and Navy
blue, for preference). Spike is to be executed in white.
The Mantle is shield shaped.
The dimensions of the mantle are 20” wide by 15” tall. The width can
be adjusted to fit specific helms.
Spike should be executed approximately 5” wide by 6” tall, closer to
the top than to the bottom.
Mantles should be labeled with the name of the warrior or unit on the
inside, as it is impossible that some will not fall off.
These are not to be worn at fight practice, etc. These are to be
battle uniform. Ideally, we will either:
I am grateful to the units that have already volunteered to produce
their own mantles. We will very much appreciate the help of the rest
of you, be it from your Barony A&S community, your ladies, or
yourselves.
Please take this request seriously. Working together we have already
improved our performance and morale significantly, and I am proud of
you all for your work. I cannot tell you how proud I would be if the
Northern Army could post in uniform to the last helm.
Badouin, Dux et Miles
