Please keep a couple of things in mind.If it has had contract with mice,
they're some health concerns. So please check for evidence of rodents before
doing anything.
If everything is fine there, use a cabinet scraper instead of sand paper to
create a clean finish, you may have to go past the first or second patina.
After creating a smooth new surface, use mineral oil. Mineral is more
available than tung oil and doesn't go rancid.
