Of course, don't forget that Spike is registered four ways:

Blue with white fins facing to dexter
White with blue fins facint to dexter
Gold facing to dexter
Gold facing to sinister

Aside from that, this is the sort of change that can be started by royal
command without all the heavy paperwork issues.
