As someone who often volunteers to judge, please let me add some
perspective here.

1) Judges are REQUIRED to sign their judging forms. If you receive one
without a signature, please let the MOAS of the hosting group know. It
prevents the anonymous snark grenade. If you think a critique was too
harsh, or even wrong, discuss it with the judge. Barring that, please
bring it to the attention of your local MOAS or even a Laurel you know and
trust. No one benefits from the experience you describe.

2) Please keep in mind that providing a summary page allows judges to get
a basic understanding of your project. It should allow someone with
experience in metal working to get enough information to evaluate how well
you replicated your embroidered snarflebat. All in one page.
For those of us with experience in embroidering snarflebats (or
interest in reading more about your quest for snarflebat excellence),
provide the rest of your documentation in a handy binder. Indexes are
lovely. Use them to let us know the materials you used, your period
inspiration, etc. Your documentation should allow ANYONE to get a
basic understanding of your art and the project you chose to create. Some
of my best proofreaders have been my co-workers, BECAUSE they have no idea
about snarflebats.

Hope this helps!
Molly
