[MR] Archery Question

Hello.  I have had an interest in both longbow and shortbow archery for a while no and wanted to start exploring this hobby.  I won't be doing combat archery for events, but I would like to start doing some shooting with a more period set or style of equipment.  Does anyone know a good resource for somone new to archery, a starting guide-ish thing?  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
