Greetings Seamus/Daniel
I suggest signing up for the SCA-Archery yahoo e-list, there is a wealth of
information in the archives of that list, not to mention some great
discussions on occasion. There is also a medieval archery yahoo group and an English
long bow group, both with useful archives as well. In what area do you live?
The archery community is very active in most of Atlantia. If you are near
Winston-Salem/Greensboro North Carolina, I invite you to one of our local
practices or help you find one close to where you live. Local practices are a
great opportunity to meet others in the archery community and try out different
equipment, etc. I'll email a file that I have on more period equipment which
may provide you with some good basic information.
Welcome to the ranks!

Hello. I have had an interest in both longbow and shortbow archery for a
while no and wanted to start exploring this hobby. I won't be doing combat
archery for events, but I would like to start doing some shooting with a more
period set or style of equipment. Does anyone know a good resource for somone
new to archery, a starting guide-ish thing? Any help here would be greatly
appreciated.
