I thought we had something like that... awards for being the winners of the
competitions.
;)
Seriously though... the great artisans eventually get into orders, win the
competitions, etc. Those who aren't there yet but are trying may get
tokens... or get nothing. That's the breaks for the losers in competitions.
Exhibitions are different, but if it's a competition it's simple.
It may be mind-boggling to believe that some people honestly appreciate the
undocumented playdough necklace as much as they appreciate the stitch for
stitch replica of the Oxburgh Hangings BUT some people really DO appreciate
EVERY effort. Regardless. Honestly, I do appreciate every effort myself
and that's why I don't generally enter A&S competitions or leave tokens at
all... why reward the people with the nice garb who enter it into A&S more
than the lady at the event in the fabulous garb who is too busy in the
kitchen to bother to enter the A&S? I'd rather just compliment the people I
see wearing fabulous garb or stitching great things :) Besides, comments
mean MUCH more than tokens ever can. A token just means "nice. check." A
comment SAYS what it means and can lead to improvements, elation, and more.
Cheers,
