I definitely agree. Also, is heraldry period for every persona? It's by no
means my area of expertise, but I'm sure there are heralds on the list who
can give us a history of heraldry and where/when devices were used to
identify an individual.
Someone with a Viking or Chinese or what have you might choose not to
register a device because it doesn't fit with their persona--does that mean
they should never get a scroll if they've received an award?
Also, not only are there people who just don't care to register stuff, there
are people who *wisely* wait on registering a name and device until they're
certain it's what they want, rather than going to the trouble of registering
a name only to determine after a few months that they'd rather have
something else.
