My only thought is that in this particular case, not only could the back of
the hall NOT hear what was going on at High Table or anywhere else in the
room - don't forget that staff is tired by feast, and me thinks deserved a
30 minute sit down during feast/toasts/etc. I for one usually stand, no
matter what...but after a minor mishap on Friday, and working all day
Saturday - after I lost track of what toast was what, I sat down.

Just my tuppence.
