Bardic Competition
Noon - 2 PM In the Feast Hall. Noble skalds pay head! As so many of our warriors test their arms on the tourney field this day, so does it please Father Odin, our mighty patron, to test our skills, dull from the winters chill. The winds, while still strong, die down and soon the season will warm for us to go a-Viking. As we prepare to plunder the shores of many a Saxon lord, come test your word-smithing and skills of song gainst others of your ilk that you may better prepare to inspire our warriors to greater victory in the days to come!
The competitions premise is All things Viking, documentation appropriate but not required; original compositions welcome. Please be sure to keep all pieces reasonable. We have the hall from the noon hour until 2 hours hence. Every minute over 10 will dock you a point in performance. Also, there will be a bardic circle after feast so prepare to brave the cold that you may hear tell of glorious battles and heroes of old in many a silver-spun Norns tale! Questions? Contact Lord Dunstan LeHeryngmongere at RangerNealson at aol.com.

Poetry Competition
Noon - 3 PM in the Feast Hall - Greetings to All the Great and Glorious Wordsmiths of Atlantia!
Do you revel in the righteous writing of rigorous poetry but defer the detestable, dastardly duty of rhyming words that poets so prodigiously produce? I, the Poeta Atlantia, am sponsoring a poetry competition at Ymir. This is a Viking event, and the competition will be open to any and all forms of Viking verse. (Hey, that means that you can practice your alliteration and leave the rhyming dictionary at home, for the most part).
Subject matter and specific style are wide open. Documentation is strongly encouraged but not required. Because this is a last minute announcement, poetry that has been entered in previous competitions is welcome. Bring your best work, as I would love to see it. Prizes will be given out to the winners.
And if you are a person who loves to read their poetry aloud, please also consider entering it in the 'All Things Viking' Bardic competition as well. (Taking place from Noon - 2 PM in the Feast Hall). The same piece can be entered in both, as long as you are willing to perform it for the Performing one and . . . well, put it down for awhile for mine!
I will be taking entries to this competition in the main hall starting at noon and ending at 3. At that point judging will take place. The winner of the competition will be announced at Afternoon court or feast. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
In service,
Dunstan leHeryngmongere
