Oops! I meant to send this to the group since I thought others might be
interested but in the Friday afternoon chaos ended up sending it only to
Olwen instead.

Subject: RE: [MR] Question about the Bright Leaf

It was not a question of "changing" the wording on the OP. The Bright Leaf
was awarded before the name was even submitted to the College of Arms and
the name was never registered.

Some time after the return of the Bright Leaf and apparently after much
discussion, the royalty decided to submit the name Coral Branch for the arts
order that would have been called the Bright Leaf had that been allowable
under the rules of the game we play.

There was NO distinction of receiving the Bright Leaf as that name
technically never existed. The order never changed when it finally
registered a name. The distinction involved with those early receipts of
the award derives solely from the date of receipt.

Now, if for some reason your date of receipt is incorrect in the Order of
Precedence, that is something that the Clerk of Precedence can address. But
the order you actually received is in fact the Order of the Coral Branch and
that is how it should be shown on the Order of Precedence.

Subject: [MR] Question about the Bright Leaf

Greetings to all here!

I write to lay rest to a question of interest. There is thought that those
who were awarded the Bright Leaf, before the name was changed to Coral
Branch, were entitled to keep the distinction of the name Bright Leaf as
having been their award listed on the OP. Having that distinction is quite
a source of pride for members I know, and some are miffed that the wording
was changed on the OP. I recall asking about this when the name change
occured and recall being told this precidence would not change.

I leave it to discussion and hope for an answer!
