Greetings to All the Great and Glorious Wordsmiths of Atlantia-
Do you revel in the righteous writing of rigorous poetry but defer the
detestable, dastardly duty of rhyming words that poets so prodigiously produce? I,
the Poeta Atlantia, am sponsoring a poetry competition at Ymir. This is a
Viking event, and the competition will be open to any and all forms of Viking
verse. (Hey, that means that you can practice your alliteration and leave the
rhyming dictionary at home, for the most part). Subject matter and specific
style are wide open. Documentation is strongly encouraged but not required.
Because this is a last minute announcement, poetry that has been entered in
previous competitions is welcome. Bring your best work, as I would love to see
it. Prizes will be given out to the winners.
And if you are a person who loves to read their poetry aloud, please also
consider entering it in the 'All Things Viking' Bardic competition as well.
(Taking place from 12-2 in the main hall). The same piece can be entered in both,
as long as you are willing to perform it for the Performing one and . . .
well, put it down for awhile for mine!
I will be taking entries to this competition in the main hall starting at
noon and ending at 3. At that point judging will take place. The winner of the
competition will be announced at Afternoon court or feast. If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
In service,
Dunstan leHeryngmongere
Poeta Atlantiae.
