Perhaps what is needed is for all those with a horse in this race to
put heads together, and determine what is best for the Kingdom as a
whole, in fighting, A&S, and other activities?
Would the assembled agree that there seems to be a lack of time for
all the activities our fine Kingdom needs done, at this point? If so,
then an ongoing discussion, perhaps at Unevent (but, preferably, over
the next few months), taking a top-down approach, would be of use.
Why? Because it's my fear that we'll all talk past each other, and
not listen, truly, to the needs of the other pieces of the Kingdom in
all this. If there's a deep, and systemic, issue with a lack of
Kingdom-level Event time for training our brave Fighters, and for
allowing development and display of our wondrous Arts, and for places
and teachers to educate at our well-run Universities, then I'd say the
solution is to see if those institutions can be re-worked, before they
become not just institutions, but ossified into something no one is
willing to touch for fear of "pissin' somebody off".
Lord Vels has made a brave commentary to educate us on the issues he
sees. There is honor in being bold, and also honor in asking for
respect, and being respectful of the other needs in the Kingdom. And,
since we are an honorable Society, I'd say we should work to honor all
aspects as best we can, and to take this discussion to levels high and
low, to determine the best way to implement that honor in this great
Kingdom.
Am I alone in this sentiment?
