I agree with Genvieve, and I don't think that there is
a perfect time for this.  The truth is, the larger and
more popular an event becomes, the more likely it will
be that someone will try to attach a fighting practice
or something else to the side.  Year after year we
hear about folks asking about fighting at 12th Night,
for example.  And year after year we have to explain
that no, 12th Night is not a fighting event.

I agree in that KASF is an exclusively Arts and
Sciences event, and I personally prefer that it is
kept that way.  We have plenty of war practices and
martial events to keep us entertained.  There are very
few that are dedicated to the Arts and Sciences.

(And this is coming from a dedicated rapier fighter,
spearman, and siege engineer.)

On the other hand, we cannot guarantee that if we move
KASF to another date, the fighting practice will not
follow it and we will be back to square one.
