To some extent they do, or at least some of them.

As I understand it, Maryland/Northern Virginia is considered the Northern Region, the rest of Virginia the Central.  South Carolina is the Southern Region.

I'm not sure about North Carolina, I think it's more or less divided among Central and Southern.
