[MR] Question regarding regions....

Actually, Cap'n, Atlantia does have regionsfour of them. They are
referred to by the mundane name of the state(s) in question, as shown
on the kingdom Web sites list at www.atlantia.sca.org/groups.php. Like
wise, if you look on the the Atlantian regnum at
acorn.atlantia.sca.org/regnum.php, you'll find that many of the kingdom
officers have deputies for each region or position for one.
These regions, howeverif I understand it correctlyare purely
administrative. I believe they came into being more or less
haphazardly, when Atlantia became too large and populous for one
kingdom officer of any description to keep good track of.
I don't know, though, whether anyone has ever considered giving the
Atlantian regions what amount to Scadian names, like a local group.
Tacking nonmundane namesand perhaps nonmundane civic heraldryonto
the regions, without changing the regions' mostly practical function,
might be an interesting idea. I confess, though, that I can't think of
a compelling reason either to do so or not to do so. Arguments for it
might be extra "spiff" or additional regional entitynice for form,
perhaps, but not crucially necessary. Arguments against would include
if naming the regions would cause red-tape problems. Also, I definitely
don't think there's any need of creating additional pointy hats for the
regions, or that there ever will be. The last thing Atlantia needs,
IMHO, are more semiannual tourneys for which there can't be any date
conflict. <grin>
Milords and ladies, what do you think? Should Atlantia's regions have
nonmundane names and such?

Ahoy there, lads and ladies-
Have been doing a bit of research, as I am attempting to become
more a part of Atlantia daily.... I have noticed that Atlantia does not
break themselves up into "Regions" ((States)) like other Kingdoms
do.... For example, how does one refer to "South Carolina" in
period???? I know "Michigan" is referred to as "Pentamer" in the
Middle.....
Just curious, and thought I would ask....
Until the next,
Yours in service,
