Hi there,

For a gentleman, there are a few options: Equerry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equerry) or groom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groom_of_the_Robes). I recommend Equerry, since groom may lead to confusion.

Greetings to all in the tavern,

I have been part of a discussion about unofficial household titles.

What might you call a gentleman who is serving the same function as a "Lady in Waiting" to the Lady of the Household but is not an apprentice, protege, or a squire?

Lord in Waiting?
Attendant?
Secretary?

Thank you for your suggestions,
Martelle von Charlottenburg
