[MR] background checks and chicken little

Hi there,

I agree, but how do these people *prove* that they hold these jobs and that their certification is current?  Someone (apologies for not recalling who and for posting this counterargument without giving them credit) mentioned security clearances...I have one, but don't carry a copy around with me or care to show people I barely know what my clearance is.

I'm ambivalent about the question of background checks even though my daughter just got one to work at a day care center. I would think that persons with previously existing certification [teachers, daycare people, etc.] would be an adequate check and save the Society some money.
