If this is what the BOD decides needs to be done in effort to try to prevent
future abuses on children, and attempt to protect the organization, then I
am in full agreement and support. While I hope that none of the background
checks fail, I do hope that the ones that do lead to arrests from any
outstanding warrants, whether children-related or not.
I don't have children of my own but I am certainly willing to help
contribute to covering the costs. Maybe the local groups within the
kingdom could collect individual fund raisers to help make sure that anyone
in their own area will be able to get their background check done who needs
them. Just start making it part of the routine procedure in the process of
getting "official" approval for the necessary positions involving children.
One thing that we will have to consider is the fact that if word gets out
that a person failed a background check, they would likely face being
shunned or avoided. I am sure that it would be handled in as discreet a
manner as possible, but judging by the general response to this kind of
crime this is very likely to happen.
