Your Gracious Majesty,

It was my honor to be elevated to the Order of the Laurel by your
illustrious predecessor of the same name. The way in which it was done,
with a prior summons, did much to enrich both the day and my ongoing SCA
experience, as it allowed me to have signficant input into the ceremony.
As knights have their belt, sword, and chain to provide a context for
their personas and place in the SCA, my indenture to the Crown provides a
similar context, one that is meaningful to both my persona and modern
self. The “masterwork” (a chair for my wife) served as a prop in the
ceremony, but for me it was as significant as the sword is for a knight.
I have always been grateful for the opportunity to have input into the
ceremony, and for the tolerance of a nontraditional format.

Your obedient servant,

Findlaech mac Alasdair, OL
