[MR] Yeah, dogs again

I have never been to an event where dogs barking have been a problem, but then the only event I have ever been to where dogs have been in large numbers has been Gulf Wars, where they are confined to a specific area...them and their owners.  I love my dog, but one of the reasons I am attracted to the breed that I own, is that they are not prone to barking....I really don't like that either.  It's kind of like Chinese Water Torture.  I have only been to one Sapphire Joust but I didn't stay overnight, and never noticed any dogs there.  But if I were at an event where someone couldn't keep their dogs quiet, I would be upset too.  I like the idea of rewarding responsible pet owners.  Medallions are a good idea.  I am not too keen on trying to keep up with AKC standards, like Good Citizen, for the simple reason that I think it's way beyond what we need.  Good Citizen is for the dog...we need to recognize responsible pet owners...or at least that's what I'm gleaning from most of
 the e-mails.  Basically, all we need from responsible owners is that the dog is comfortable around strangers, or is kept away from them.  And that we keep the poop cleaned up.  We can add to that, but we need to start with those basics.  And I don't have a problem with that....but again I ask, who is going to be responsible for this?

understand (and it's been so many years since I was at
pennsic that this is ALL based on talk) they have a
late night party camp area, a family camp area- why
can't we have a dog camp? Why should other people get
no sleep because either the owner is an idiot who
should not be a dog parent or cause the dog thinks
you're trying to steal their tent? 
I do wish as a loving dog mommy, that if people do not
like dogs that they would actually say so. Not going
to hold it against you, but since actual words can be
misunderstood, body language is a real guess game. 
And the University classes would be great- could
probably con fluffmonsters obedience instructor to
come out and do something if University is in VA or
NC.
