For what it's worth, I can tell you that every time Kindra and I have
taught a hands-on mosaic class, it has always been popular. I don't
think we've ever had less than half a dozen people, and a more usual
number is ten to twelve.

Subject: [MR] Interest in a mosaic class?
Salve tutti!
For those who are planning on going to University in February, I'm
wondering if there would be interest in a hands-on mosaic class. My
tentative plan would be to have it over several class periods, maybe
four (?), with a history lecture in the first hour and then the hands-on
section for the rest of the time. The project would be Roman style black
and white mosaics using unglazed porcelain tile. Each student would have
an 8"x8" piece of backer board and some pre-cut tiles to play with.
Nippers would be available for loan or purchase. I was thinking about
making up some design templates beforehand - nothing too complicated,
but appropriate for the time period. I would probably have to ask for
about $10-$12 as a materials fee, and limit the class to 5 students.
I'd like to know if there's enough interest before I commit to doing the
class because there's a lot of prep work involved. So if this sounds
like something you'd be interested in doing, please drop me a note
privately and let me know. I'll also consider doing it for a northern
session of University sometime.
Grazie!
