Lady Margaret, I am not sure if this will post to the Rose from my work
account but you may forward if you choose.

I am no longer "official" but I do have some experience in this area ;-)
....Unevent is one opportunity for networking of all the officers of the
kingdom not just the more frequently available regional networking
opportunities. That means seneschals with seneschals, etc but also one
type of officer with another. It is a chance for branches to seek one on
one, face to face advice from Kingdom Officers and our Royalty.

Also, every branch has the option of bidding for Unevent (and any other
Kingdom Event). One of the aspects of the job that I found hardest was
the constant criticism of kingdom events more often than not from those
who had not put in a bid. Every attempt is made to be fair to those
bidding, as central as is possible while having a site proper to the type
of event and remaining fiscally responsible as a kingdom.

It is a hard and often thankless job. While questions are always valid, I
would suggest a word of thanks to Lady Tonwen and to Baroness Fiona for
all they do to keep the calendar going would be well appreciated.

While not as central as some of our branches, Ravens Cove is not
particularly far south. If we attend, we have about a five hour trip from
central SC...and they were kind enough to host this year. I understand
the travel issue. Living in SC, the travel I undertook as Kingdom
Seneschal was quite extensive and yes, expensive.

The value is in coming together as a kingdom.

Anne le Coeur, OP
(Happily enjoying her new spare time since stepping down as Kingdom
Seneschal.)
