Greetings Fair Atlantia!

On this Saturday past, at Storvik's Novice Tourney, in addition to the
mighty feats of arms that day there was a magnificent Arts and Sciences
Competition, Exhibit and Classes!

In keeping with the theme of the day, there was a competition for best
Novice attempt at an art, for those working in a field less than a year.
We had two divisions this year, Junior and Senior. The Senior Division
winner was Patricia of Trakai, for several pieces of Viking wire weaving.
The inaugural Junior Division was won by Isaac Rowland Matthews (5) for an
Oriflamme Banner which he constructed by himself and dictated his own
documentation. I want to specially recognize the runner up, Jamie de
Contigny (4) for her Viking necklace.

There were other competitions that day. A brewing contest was won by Reyne
Telarius for her wonderful Elderberry Mead. A special recognition to
Gaspar Marti for his Novice entry to the brewing competition.

For the overall category of items relating to the Crusade era, Rowan
Berrna McDowell won for her Jerusalem Rosary.

And the special fiber related prize was awarded to Brienna Llewellyn
Lindsey for the combination of her hand spun thread and her peplos-style
gown and tablet-woven trim.

I want to thank all of the entrants to the A&S, we had a wonderful variety
of items entered and the decisions were particularly difficult. The glory
that is Atlantia surely shone that day!

Additionally, I want to thank all of the teachers who volunteered their
time to present introductory classes in their areas of interest. We had a
goodly number of classes, and even with the draw of watching the
tournament, we had a good showing of students.

In Service to Storvik and Atlantia;

Janina Krakowska, MoAS for Storvik
