In response to all the above postings on this topic, I would like to make a
few points.
1. Regarding non-conflicting events. The following reads to me as if they
can have ONE non-conflicting event per year. Perhaps the autocrat of
Holiday Faire can ask the autocrat of the Dun Carraig if they will
reconsider the no-conflict status of their event and allow a conflict.
*6.3.1* The first group to submit a fully completed Event Registration
Form to the Kingdom Chronicler (or his/her duly appointed deputy) may, once
per Society year, request that subsequent event requests be restricted from
having an event on the same date within 100 driving miles of their event.
This distance will be calculated over the most widely traveled route (site
to site). Groups submitting an Event Registration Form that does not include
a site location (TBA) may not request this restriction until they locate a
site and inform the Kingdom Chronicler's office of the change.
2. Regarding the number of events in a year. Someone told me (I don't
remember who or where the information came from) that Baronies are required
to hold 3 events a year to maintain Baronial status. I can't find anything
in the Atlantian laws to substantiate this, though, so it may be old
information that is still floating around. This may be why so many groups
feel constrained to hold so many events though.
3. Regarding the population density and size. Atlantia is too big,
landwise and population wise, in my opinion. Unfortunately, in this case,
even splitting into a principality won't help because Stierbach is well
within the 100 mile radius.
Holiday Faire was a fun event last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, I really think this should be handled between the autocrats of the
two events and the Kingdom Chronicler (or appointed calendar deputy). They
make the decision ultimately anyway.
