IRT you below post that I've sniped most away...
Mark,
I remember you. I believe I also remember the Women in question you were
trying to court. If memory serves me, she worked for Channel 5, in
Charleston and I met her at Meyers' and Gaultney's apartment at Windjammer.
Like you, I too for a while dropped out from the SCA due to work and
Deployment scheduled. Although the SSBN community didn't have it as bad as
the rest of the Navy, we still went away for months at a time.
I almost shared in the O'Shannon household, Thalgar asked me to join when
Hidden Mountain was still a Shire and fighter practices were at Quarterman
Lake (the duck pond). I also shared the Barracks life with Mike. He used
to wake me up by "belly flopping" on me when I was still in the "Rack" on
weekends. I also remember regretting the offers of paying for a pizza that
he ordered but not learning my lesson and continued to pay for his orders.
Something about $29.00 Dominos' pizzas in the mid eighties with quadruple
everything.
The one thing I am glad for, I had the car, an Old Baby Blue 1967 Mustang,
and the Soldier of Fortune Magazine article about the SCA. I dragged Kane
to his first Fighter Practice because I wanted to meet these people first
hand. He ended up joining before me. I went to sea and came back to find
he was so much better than me in fighting and a member of House O'Shannon.
I joined and a year later I lapsed and went away for a couple of years. I
still remember the meetings and partying at Eldon's house which made me find
the SCA again for another short reprise.
But I eventually came back again and started playing when I found out Kane
was Baron of Hidden Mountain, when one of my Petty Officers, Finn Marlow
O'Shannon MKA John Tibbs told me He lived with Kane, He dropped the Black
from his name by then.
I was also at Pensic with my wife, Gwendolyn Fitch, when he was Prince and
one of his squires was telling me stories about his great Knight and Prince.
Kane merely laughed and told Johnathan that I was probably the oldest SCA
acquaintance of his and I knew the story first hand.
You may not remember me because I didn't serve on the Woodrow Wilson as you,
Gaultney, Boudro (Meyers), and Mike, I was on the Tecumseh. I went by the
name Feafaroth back then, but I learned about having a hard to pronounce
name and later changed it officially via submission. But if you want, drop
me a line. I thought you lived in a one story brick in Tall Pines
sub-division back then. Let me know if my memory is correct.
I too miss him, but He is probably laughing and waiting for us to join him
form our afterlife here ready to have a cold one and reminisce.

Some of you may remember me, if you were involved in SCA in the early to
mid-80's. I was a member of the O'Shannon clan, half-brother of Thalgar
O'Shannon, and uncle to Black Kane. I remember the Shire of Hidden Mountain
when Eldon was Seneschal, prior to his installation as Baron. I left the
Charleston, SC area, and the SCA, in 1988. As I shared with his squire,
Jonathan Longbow, I had "planes to catch, and bills to pay"...the usual poor
excuses for allowing a friendship to wither.

Again, thank you all for your kind and gracious words for my friend and
brother.
