Greetings,

That appears to be an incorrect interpretation of what was written. He said
he'd hate to make a long drive "for the fighting to be canceled". No where
does it say "for the event to be canceled".
What makes the SCA so diverse is that everyone has different primary
interests. If one's primary interest is cooking, then they may be
disinclined to attend an event without a feast. If one's primary interest
is A&S, then they might be less inclined to drive across a state to go to a
fencing event. All of that is considered fair by most standards. So why
question someone who's interest is fighting? If one's primary interest is
fighting, it should be expected that it's ok to not want to go to a Crusade
if there won't be any crusading. Simple enough, no judgements, no lectures.
