I normally do not answer to missives on this list, but I just have to at this time. Because ALL that we do means so much to me.

If the only thing you go to an event for is the fighting then that IS a worry for you. And you will deal with it in your fashion.  The best to you M'Lord. 

I go to an event sometimes to be on the fighting field sometimes to be on the archery field. Both of these might be cancelled this weekend - not a worry. Because I also go to an event to check out the merchants, to check out the A&S activities, and to meet friends I might not see anyplace else. And especially this event where I will meet with friends that I will only see at Pennsic or at this event. 

The length of Courts are a bother but I like them because I see friends getting awards for their hard work in this society. I like the camping even when it gets very damp. And oh yes - there is the feasts, well not at this event. And the Bardics or dancing in the evenigs are activities not to be missed. 

I have been know to travel a lot further to an activity knowing full well that there will be no marshal arts activity, either cancelled due to weather or non planned. But then am I normal in this? Don't know. But I do know that I like the ALL the activities of the event associated with this great society that we are a part of.
