Midsummer's Twilight Tourney Cavalry Information Packet (June 17-19, 2005)
If your looking to sharpen your jousting skills or maybe want to lop off a few heads to relieve the stress of summer enlist today for the Midsummer's Twilight Cavalry Tourney. Windmaster's Hill has selected an excellent site for cavalry games which will include all of our regular games and introduce mounted archery for the first time in this kingdom. All of you who are eager to compete must fill out the following registration. The registration and money order (if needed) must be sent to the Cavalry Marshal in Charge of the event on or before Wednesday June 15th, 2006. Please note that that all persons riding must be authorized riders in the Kingdom of Atlantia or be prepared to complete the authorization process. Be prepared to show the MOL a current blue SCA membership card upon arrival or sign a waiver of liability. All persons wishing to participate in the SCA cavlary games, both as a rider or as ground crew, MUST authorize.As per SCA regulations, no person under the age of 5 may
be on a horse at any time. Riders 12 and over can ride at this event, however, there is extra paperwork that must be signed before the event date and the legal guardian of the minor child must watch the child ride during the entire time that the child is on a horse. Parents or guardians interested in having a minor child ride must contact the Marshal-in-Charge before June 13th, 2005 to facilitate processing the proper paperwork. Parents or guardians must provide an ASTM or Snell Equestrian riding helmet for the child as none is provided at the site. Rider authorizations consist of taking a Liability Class, filling out the paperwork with the MOL to include current SCA blue membership card or waiver of liability and $5.00 and an authorization ride. Non-rider authorizations consist of taking the Liability Class and filling out the paperwork with the MOL to include current SCA blue membership card or waiver of liability and $5.00.
Schedule of Activities
Friday (June 17) 5pm Site opens to horses
Saturday (June 18) 8:00am Arena opens to practice.
All riders must report to the Cavalry Tent and sign
apropriate waivers before mounting their horse.
Riders renting mounts will meet with the wrangler
and be assigned a horse.
9:30 am Arena closes for tourney set up.

11:30am Windmasters Hill Cavalry Demo
2:00 pm Arena opens to practice
Liability Class
All riders who are wishing to authorize for the day
must take this class. Riders wishing to authorize
at a later event can take this class and info will
remain on file.
4:30pm Arena closes
5:00pm Windmasters Hill Challenge Tourney begins
6:30pm Tourney Field Closes
Sunday (June 19) 10:00am All horses must be off site.
Rules to follow:
No smoking or alcohol in arena area when horses are present.
Please make sure to help leave the site clean.
Horses must be attended by adult at all times.
Discipline of rental horses is not allowed without wrangler's permission.
Stallions and known kickers or biters are not allowed.
Anyone engaging in unsafe practices or using punishment deemed inappropriate will not be allowed to participate.
Rental Horses
Fee for rental horses is $60.00 for the day. This may be shared with up to three riders. If sharing a rental horse, all monies must be received by the Marshal of the Horse for reservation. Horses subjected to carrying too much weight for their size are permanently damaged and will be in pain for the rest of their lives. It is the rule of the wrangler that no one is allowed to ride a rental horse that weighs more than the horse can safely carry. Please understand that this rule is for humanitarian purposes.
Private Horses
You must present proof of negative Coggins test BEFORE being unloaded from trailer. Horses from outside North Carolina must also present a current Health Certificate. Marshal-in Charge must be notified in advance of estimated time of arrival. Horses may be tied to trailers but must have adult supervision at all times. Private horses can be stabled on site. Please reserve space in advance. Pole corrals are permitted but portable electric corrals are not permitted. Please bring all feed, hay and equipment necessary including buckets for water and feed. Water will be available at the games arena.
What to wear:
Closed toe footwear, pants without large seams in the inside or riding breeches, approved riding helmets are suggested but not required for those 18 or over, nothing dangling or easily caught on pieces of harness. No spurs on rental horses
What to bring:
The games arena is located away from water and bathrooms which are provided in another area on site. It is encouraged to bring day shades, pavilions and seating to set up around the arena site. Banners and other decorations are highly encouraged. Riders bring lances and other games playing equipment. Loaner lances, maces, etc. will be provided but must be shared. Display of personal arms on banners, tabards, horse decorations, etc. is also encouraged. Please inquire in advance about any decorations for the rental horses.
REGISTRATION FORM
Must be received by June 15th, 2005. Each person registering must fill out a separate form. Riders using rental horses or private horses use the same form. Only Money Orders will be accepted for rental horses. The SCA does not allow groups to process funds to rent horses. All money orders must be made out to the wrangler (for rental horses) or to the stable owner ( for stall rental). NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE AFTER THE CUT OFF DATE OR FOR POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS. For those bringing private horses, directions for the barn and to the site will be provided upon receiving your registration.
