Here's a handy website with a picture that can be enlarged to assist with
tick identification. Please note that only the ticks shown at the top of the
picture can pass on Lyme disease. That being said, the one I found on myself
is from the bottom row and is responsible for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
And I *didn't* camp or even travel under any trees so the "Serengeti"
dwellers of this weekend are/were at risk.

So if you found a tick on yourself or a family member this weekend and
have already disposed of it, please try to identify it now by it's type
while your memory is fresh. And save any found attached to a human in later
camping trips. A zip-lock baggie with a dampened cotton ball in it will keep
the tick alive long enough to get it to a lab for testing. Identification of
the type of tick will help your doctor isolate any diseases while they're
still in the early stages and easiest to treat.
