One can also cut one's nose off to avoid smelling one's neighbors garbage -
or their roses. But that doesn't address the issue of _courtesy towards a
neighbor_, which is where the problem is.

Trimming one's email posts is a standard, common practise. Being
argumentative about someone asking that courtesy be observed is
counter-productive. Calling everyone else's mail reading programs "obsolete"
and questioning their choice of program is rude. You've got one that you
like - so do we.

Perhaps you should rethink how your express your points when trying to be
helpful.
