I have watched this discussion and as a fighter, I really don't want to try and figure out what constellation anything belongs to when I am looking for my unit to rejoin, so may I suggest that a simple solution, one that requires no registration of anything (since it is already registered) is a group of pennons as follows: Northern white field, blue spike with a blue band at the top (spears would then be marked with a small pennon of blue over white), for the Central, white field, blue spike and a blue band in the middle (spears could be marked with a blue and white pennon vertically divided) for the Southern, white field, blue spike and a blue band at the bottom (spears marked with white over blue). For the Cav, white field, blue spike and bands at top and bottom.
That should be sufficiently simple enough for even a worn out, old fighter like myself to remember.

BTW liked the discussion of astronomy (really)
