Specifically, for that quote, "Pool Cues, Beer Bottles, and Baseball
Bats", subtitled "Animal's guide to improvised weaponry". Excellent
book. Like any good Fechtmeister, he points out that (a) fighting
hurts, even if you win, (b) getting hurt sucks, so does going to jail,
and (c) Situational awareness will frequently keep you from having to
deal with (a) and (b).
One of his drawings looks like a heavily-refused Oldcastle stance. He
says (paraphrased, I don't have the book handy),
"This looks really goofy, but is an extremely flexible stance. Don't
get near someone doing this, or they'll knock your @$$ into the next
county. Problem is, you don't know WHICH county - he can hit you from
any angle, starting like that."
He also recommends looking up the SCA to get training.
