Please forward this to your various lists. Thanks!

"In the spacious times of great Elizabeth," 12th Night concluded the
celebrations of the Christmas season. On that day, a lowly servant might be
chosen as the Lord of Misrule, and in a reversal of roles (only pretend, of
course) his master would play the servant. One might gamble at dice, cards,
and other games, or take part in a lottery. Such entertainments were the
time to wear one's finest clothes, feast, dance, or join in a masque, or
perhaps mummers might arrive unexpectedly and perform a play.

THe Baronies of Tir-y-don and Marinus will offer many of these period
entertainments throughout the day at their Interbaronial 12th Night.
Merchants are invited to offer their wares. Games will be offered, including
the favorite Live Game of Goose, courtesy of Lord Rabas. The Barons and
Baronesses of both baronies will hold court in the afternoon; there will be
a feast in the evening, followed by a mummer's play and dancing.

For the competitve types, Tir-y-don's Arts & Sciences Championship
competition will be held, and also a competition for the best Elizabethan
Accessory. The autocrat will offer a prize for the most correct answers to
her quiz; topics will include Elizabethan history, Shakespeare's play, and
things relating to the number twelve. There will also be a competition for
best period dessert at the feast, with the winner being chosen by popular
acclaim.

A tentative schedule for the day:
11:00 am Hall opens
11:00-4:00 Games, competitions, bardic performances, dance classes
1:00-3:00 Children's activities
4:00 pm Baronial courts, performance by Rencester singers
6:00 pm Feast, dessert competition
Post-feast Mummer's play, dancing

Feast menu: 1st course: manchet, beef hutspot in the Brabant manner, a
sallet of all kindes of hearbes, stewed fish, rice
2nd course: cabbage salad, a tart of spinage, boiled
capon of oranges, couscous
Dessert: Twelfth Night cake, dessert competition
