Tir-Y-Don's Baronial Birthday, April 17, 2004 
 

Come one and all and join the Barony of Tir-y-Don for it's annual birthday celebration. This will be a Viking/Celtic event with something for everyone. Our new Baronial champions in heavy and rapier shall be chosen with more martial activities to follow.
Not martially inclined? To challenge your wits, classes will be offered in topics of interest to Vikings and Celts.  There will be an open display/competition and a period pie/tart competition. An array of Viking and Celtic games will be available for all to enjoy. To end the evening, a delectable feast will be serve that will be sure to please any hungry Viking or Celt. 

 Martial Activities:  Heavy Weapons: Champion tourney begins promptly at 12 noon. Authorizations are at 11 am. A Vikings vs. Celts resurrection battle will follow. Winning team gets the booty! Your persona need not be Viking or Celt.

Rapier: Champion Tourney begins at 12 Noon. Authorizations are at 11 a.m. Team Competitions to follow afterward with the winning team getting the booty.

 

Archery: Unfortunately city law prevents us from having archery onsite. The Champion competition will take place at another location to be announced soon. Contact: Martin Gareth (Dave Maness) at Pegasus321 at aol.com

Arts & Sciences Activities:  

 

Open Display: There will be an open display of Arts and Sciences projects with prizes given to the Populace Choice and Best documentation. Items of Celtic and Viking Nature are especially encouraged.

 

Onsite Poetry Competition: Competitors will be given a set list of words in which they must use in an original poem. The list will be handed out at the door. You need not be a poet to win.


Period Baking: The Cook's Guild is sponsoring a competition for period tarts or pies (Savory or Sweet). Documentation is required. 

Mini-Collegium: Classes will be offered in Viking and Celtic subjects. Included are Garb Embellishment, Early Anglo-Saxon and Viking Christianity,  European Haiku, Period Dyes, Early Period Food and more to be scheduled. (Classes are tentative and subject to change).

Children 6 and under are guests of the Barony. If you do not have your membership card at troll, you will be charged the $3 non-member surcharge.

Site Restrictions:  Site is discreetly damp. WINE/MEAD ONLY (No hard alcohol or beer allowed) No original containers. No pets.

Feast Information: Lord  Timoteusz Konikorad will prepare a hearty early period feast and a simple lunch. Those with dietary concerns please contact him at mcneelytim at earthlink.net or at (757)887-5127. Feast space is limited to 100 gentles, so reserve early.

Merchants Information:  Merchants are very welcome. Please contact the autocrat , so she can arrange for your wares.

Directions:  Take your best route to I-64 and follow to Newport News, VA. Take Exit 258-B (Rt.17 North)towards Yorktown. Go .8 miles and make a Right onto Harpersville Rd. At the next light, Harpersville will split, stay straight on the road and it will become Saunders Rd. Stay on Saunders for .7 miles. The site is on the left.
