but you cant buy advertising space in the acorn if the things sold do not
pertain to the middle ages (so no coleman chair salespeople need apply).
personally i dont care if someone puts out a one time "hey if you cant trust
a fellow scadian to buy a used car" email. it cant be any worse than the
tons of emails that dont really have much information that flood the merry
rose on a daily basis. while most of the non topic stuff is just simple
chatter it really falls into the same category. or they could put "ot" in
the header. that way people that dont want to read email that isnt specific
to whatever can delete it without being bother by it.
i deleted the email about the vehicles after about 2 sentences since i am
not in the market for one. no harm no foul. but if it is the consensus of
the list "owner" that it is inappropriate then thats that. 8^)

I am going to have to agree with Lord William...as a self-employed small
business owner and member of the SCA, even I can see that despite the
need to market myself to survive, the Merry Rose is not an appropriate
venue for blatant advertising. I delete spam unread, and work hard to
protect myself from it. However, when it comes under the guise of the
Merry Rose, it sneaks in under the radar and I resent it even more. If
a SCA-dian owned business wants to promote itself to SCA-dians, then the
honorable method is to purchase advertising space in the Acorn, or
Tournements Illuminated, or some such other SCA media outlet.
