Greetings!
I wanted to follow up behind Baron Achbar and try to add an explanation as
to why we have altered the Novice tourney slightly within Sacred Stone.
We wanted to host a tournament that was strictly set up for novice fighters.
Very often in the past we have seen fighters who have been fighting for 5,
10 years or more enter the Novice Tournament and compete against fighters
who have only been fighting a year or so, because they chose a new weapons
form. While I do understand that in an open tourney you may be at a
disadvantage because of the new form; you are still very familiar with
fighting, the mind set, how people move, various blows that can be thrown,
etc. Someone who is new to fighting in general is not going to have that
knowledge already and will be at an obvious disadvantage.
This is the format in which the Novice Tournament at Sacred Stone's Baronial
Birthday was fought last year and we were very pleased with the results.
Those that were truly novices got a chance to compete against their true
peers in the sense of actual fighting experience.
As Baron Achbar has assured you, there is going to be a great deal of
fighting at this event, no matter your level or preferred weapons form.
Please come on out and enjoy the fighting and various other activities
planned for the weekend.
Duke Logan, as to your suggestion regarding different lists for different
forms, I don't recall that ever coming up in any discussions regarding the
Novice Tournament that I have participated in. I definitely like that idea
and would like to keep it in mind for the Novice Tournament next year.
Have a terrific weekend, enjoy this (hopefully) last blast of winter that is
hitting us today! I'm heading home to curl up in front of the fireplace!
YIS,
Rozsa

I can complain because Rosebushes have thorns, or rejoice because the
thornbush has a Rose...... it is all up to me.
