Barkeep, a round for the Tavern while I tempt them with this Public Service Announcement!

Tourney of Manannon Mac Lir XXVI

January 21-23, 2005

Cold winds and snow may dominate the Northern reaches of our fair Kingdom, but here in the South, winter means time to fight and bragging rights to the Brooch of Manannon. Who will be the next bearer of the Heavy Brooch, one of the oldest tourney prizes in Atlantia? And who will be the next holder of the Rapier Brooch? Of course, there is always the famed hospitality of the Canton of Tear Sea's Shore to enjoy. And if that is not enough, there will be a thrown weapons competition to tempt your warrior spirit.

A&S: For the more artistically inclined, there will be an open A&S competition with an Oceanic theme. Documentation is strongly encouraged.

Feast: if this is not enough to tempt you, then perhaps a feast by House Drunken Moose will tantalize you into traveling south. Dietary concerns can be sent to Baroness Mistylla of the Misty Isles at sparis1 at sc.rr.com Space is limited for feast; sign up early for the most delicious seats in the house!

Cost: Adults: onboard $13 daytrip $ 6

            Teens (13-17): onboard $12 daytrip $5

            Children (6-12): onboard $6.50 daytrip $3

Children 5 and under shall be the guests of the Canton.

Please let us know how many children are included when making your reservation. Adults who are non members must add $3 to their reservation. Make all checks out to the Canton of Tear Sea's Shore, SCA, Inc. The only reservation is a paid reservation.

Site: The site will be the Harleyville Community Center, 20 Railroad Ave., Harleyville, SC 29448. Limited crash space will be available in the hall, but there is plenty of space for the primitive camper behind the hall. Sorry, no pets or ground fires allowed. This is a discretely wet site. Site will open at 5 PM on Friday and close at noon on Sunday. Merchants are welcome; please direct any questions about space to the Autocrat. There is a small motel (The Ashley Lodge 188 Judge St., Ridgeville 843-462-7800) nearby for those who wish to stay in more comfort.

Who is the Autocrat? Why, Mistress Aodh Adendra Marland (Brenda Butler) will be your host for this glorious weekend! Contact her at 1112 Grapevine Rd, Ridgeville, SC 29472. (843) 688-4135. You may also contact her at Adendra at charleston.net.

Directions: Take your best route to I-26 west of Charleston, SC. Take exit 177 (route 453) towards Harleyville. Follow this road until it ends in a T intersection. Turn left onto Highway 178 towards downtown Harleyville. At the flashing yellow light, turn right onto Railroad Ave. The site is approximately 2 blocks ahead on the left. Signs will be posted.
