I don't think anyone was ganging up on any one; it seems more like a debate
to me, and one that has happened many times before, whether on this list or
on others.

The fact is, the SCA is not a living history group, and it probably won't
ever be; living history groups focus on a very small chunk of time and
place, and the SCA does not.

You won't find a English Civil War group sitting down to tea with an
American Civil War group, yet in the SCA you find Norsemen gone a vyking
sitting down to a meal with Elizabethan privateers.

If fighting was my first love, I would probably be most of the way to a list
legal kit by now. But it's not, A & S comes before that. And I realize
that it will be awhile before I can legally enter the list under the new
laws, even though I am authorized. But that is the law, and I will follow
it.

I can only push myself, and those who ask me for help towards the ultimate
goal of being more authentic.

When I think about all the stuff that I still need to add to my stuff, to be
more authentic, I tell myself that it is a journey, and one that will take
awhile.
