James, you have an excellent point. I'm reposting here an offlist
comment that I made to someone else about this, because this did occur
to me. Of course, it occurred to me AFTER I'd pulled the trigger on my
first post - 20-20 hindsight...

As far as my own opinion on this goes, I'm 50-50 on it until the jury
comes in - may even wait till all appeals are in. There have been a LOT
of people prosecuted and convicted in what amounts to witch-hunts, in
that type of crime. If he's acquitted, he deserves to be compensated for
the damage to his reputation, as well as for physical damage at the
hands of other jail inmates.

If he's really guilty (and a cursory glance at the news doesn't look
good for him), stump-hang his @$$.
