[MR] sewing notions on airplane?

I've flown MANY times since Sept 11th and embroidered on every single flight. Don't take scissors of any kind, get a pair of nail clippers and make sure the stabby thing is taken off... use that to cut your thread. Needles are ok, pins are ok, though one time I was going to Rome, the security person in Atlanta had a problem with my box of about 400 quilting pins, the head flight attendant did not, so, I got to keep them. Seam ripper, nope... anything that can be used for stabbing, no matter how ludicrous it may seem, will they allow. I fly pretty exclusive Delta, but I imagine UA will be the same.

Good luck, safe flight!

Subject: [MR] sewing notions on airplane?

Greetings,

I will be traveling via airplane for the first time since 9/11 (I don't fly that often) and I was wondering, what are the restrictions for bringing sewing supplies these days? I'd like to work on some hand sewing, but I'm thinking I might get a hard time about bringing sewing needles, a seam ripper, or the little sewing scissors with me. Has anyone else dealt with this? I am flying with United Airlines if that makes a difference. Thanks for your time.

I remain,
Isobel
