Knight of the Heart:  A Pas d’Armes

September 26-28th, 2003

Barony of Lochmere

 

Through teeth of raging storm,

through wind's greatest ire,

still their course remains firm,

no task is higher.

Noble deeds shall lend proof,

an answer brought to light,

truth found by might of arm,

tis for Love they fight.


Let it be known throughout the land that upon the 27th day of the 9th month of the year of our Lord 2003 A.S. XXXVIII there shall be a great test of arms in the wondrous land of the Barony of Lochmere!  From the four corners of the world shall there gather knights most noble and of great renown.  And upon this day these four Knights and their men shall be tasked by Ladies most fair to answer how it is that Love is the greatest gift of all.

Each Knight shall make their answer known and upon the field of battle prove the rightness of their belief against all who woulds’t challenge.  Those Challengers of Love, to show their intent, may receive a token day from the gentle hand of the fair Baroness of Lochmere, Mistress Isobel Bedingfield, in advance or upon the day.

Combat shall be a plaisance.   Blows stoutly delivered shall be verbally acknowledged, and the combat continue to 3 counted blows.  Combat shall consist of greatsword, polearm, and sword and shield, either at the barrier or on the field.

Let it further be known that, as this is a Pas d’Armes, all are asked to don their finest tourney raiment both on and off the field in the manner of 14th century.  Tis by prowess and appearance fighters shall find honour this day.
