If there is a number one Frequently Asked Question in armoring, this has got
to be it. I have a Harbor Freight shear, and I like it. Out on the Armour
Archive (armourarchive.org), it seems like half the folks on the list use
them.

There is a very widely circulated report from some guy who thought the blade
angles were not right, and he describes how to re-grind them. Opinions vary
as to whether that is worth doing. Personally, I wouldn't bother, unless I
were breaking a lot of blades.

By the way, a Beverly-type shear is the only thing in the known universe
that will easily cut up a steel-belted tire. I recycled some old truck
treads that way to face my pell.

Your Servant,

Charles Fleming
