[MR] One of the many reasons

This past weekend in the Canton of Aire Faucon, in our Barony of Sacred
Stone, I had the honor of attending Inn on the Road. I was reminded in
spades at this event why it is that I adore the SCA and those in it, and I
wanted to share my pride with the Kingdom.

Not only was a good time had by all, but money was raised for an abused
woman's shelter as well. I watched as the fighters (heavy, rapier and
archers) took the field with honor and Chivalry, learning from the more
experienced fighters and new fighters alike. Then I watched as those same
fighters took to the kitchen, the hall and anywhere else they were needed
during the evening.

Our gracious Baroness held court and handed out many prizes and awards, all
well deserved. The winner of the rapier "Booty Prize" turned and presented
his prizes (except the basket) to two newer fighters he felt deserved the
honor, in a true showing of Chivalry and good sportsmanship.

Lady Brianna O'Duinn took on the event on very short notice, but none would
be able to tell. It ran smoothly and for her and those that happily donated
their time to help they should feel nothing short of immense pride in a job
well done.

Lady Fiona MacLeod and Lady Keelin O'Duinn put on a feast that was nothing
short of perfect, and when several desserts were left at the end they were
auctioned off to more than double what the woman's shelter would take in.

Some may see this post as a waist of bandwidth but I think that when an
event is taken on with 8 weeks to prepare and is run so well it is a true
testament to what the SCA is all about. (and of course how wonderful
Atlantians are)

Just my two cents worth!
