Kind Gentles,
I apologize for taking up bandwidth again this morning, but I wanted to
remind all of you about this auction.
This auction is to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for
Life, to be held in Calvert County, Maryland and supported, within the
SCA, by the Barony of Dun Carraig. This is a very worth while
undertaking...it supports cancer research and education. The good news
is that a very large portion of the proceeds from the Relay go to
support these to efforts. The American Cancer Society has one of the
best records of any non-profit organization for using a greater
percentage of monies raised for its goals.
The current bid for the Elizabethan dinner for 4 is at $200. I know
that sounds like a lot of money, but when you figure that you are
purchasing a 4 course dinner, cooked by well-known, accomplished cooks,
and it is to feed 4 people, that really isn't all that much. If you
went to a fine restaurant, you would pay far more for an appetizer,
main course and a glass of wine! The cost per person so far is only
$50. So get together with your friends and boost that bid up to a very
healthy figure...show the non-SCA folks that we in the SCA really
care. I know each of you has had someone you care about deal with this
disease...
By the way, if you know of anyone who has had cancer or is presently
dealing with it, encourage them to contact the American Cancer Society
to find a Relay in their area. They should go out and participate in
the Survivor's Walk, usualy the first lap of the Relay.
Thanks for your patience with my pleas!
Minowara Kiritsubo, OL, OP,
Baroness of Dun Carraig
