Xavier called yesterday morning to tell us Master Finnr died.
He didn't want us to read it on the web.
Finnr and I shared many similar interests, and we corresponded
often. We both liked earlier periods and I had a tremendous
amount of respect for him, his generosity, his basic human goodness,
and his scholarship. He was an outstanding member of the SCA, and
participated in other groups as well. We shall miss him very much.
He has stayed on our living room floor to sleep (We have no extra
beds or couches) beneath the huge towering piles of books I buy and
read.
I was afraid he would get squashed. We exchanged much research.
We were on Norsefolk, Manx (his own list), Atlantian Laurels,
Medieval Leather, and Atlantia together.
Just the first of the week Ann mailed him a rare movie he wanted.
I am very concerned about his wife, whom we don't know well, but
whom I suspect is going to need a lot of support and help.
As you all know, Finnr's Mother recently died. We never discussed
any siblings he might have in our correspondence. I am afraid that
his wife will be stuck with crippling debts from both funerals.
My wife and I will be sending checks this week to help.
The pain of loss, especially at such a young age, must be staggering.
It would be much worse to lose what else you have too.
May I encourage you to do the same?
