Doesn't this sound fun?!! I thought it would be inspirational if we looked
at what other kindgoms are doing. I do like the idea of a prize known about
before hand ... we could do this with the guilds or out of kindgome coffers.
Your thoughts??

Below is a list of the competitions and other A&S events scheduled so far
for Lilies War. These are all listed on the web page on the schedule but
just in case you haven't checked lately... Please look over the list. You
still have time to prepare your entry.
Luzia
Small Trim, Binding, Edging or Passementiere - with documentation at
least a
3x5 card. First Prize being a "Marcella Loom"
Sheep to Shawl - Project to be completed onsite using wool provided by
sponsor.
Enduring Love - $25 Prizes to the entries which best illustrate the
theme.
There will be two catagories.
a.. Age 16 and above
b.. Ages 15 and below
Best Heraldic Display - This category is pretty self evident. If you
can put
your arms on it, do it. Prize will be home brewed root beer.
Woven Yardage - bring your handwoven yardage. This is for actual
fabric not
inkle or tablet weaving. Documentation should be about a 8x11 page and
should include a description of what the intended end use of your
fabric
will be. Prize to be a 5 yard warping board.
Ground Up - At least two people must be involved in a hand off
situation.
For example: spinner to weaver to dyer or tool maker to woodworker.
The more
hands involved the greater the points awarded.
Alethea's Speed Scribe Competition - the competition will be for the
scribes
to take dictation of a
period text, in whatever hand you chose. The competition will be
timed, and
scribes will be judged on the quality of calligraphy and how much they
managed to
transcribe. Pens and ink will be supplied or bring your own.
Wood Working - Any project at any level of ability scored by advanced
level
criteria to give entrants an idea of what to improve on.
A Rose in any Medium - Sponsored by the Order of the Rose
Head Wear contest. - Male or female, any time period, any culture
Onsite Embroidery Contest - Materials will be supplied. Item doesn't
have to be finished but must be complete enough for the judges to tell what
it is.
If it's Too Hot in the Kitchen. - A competition in honor of HE Mikhail.
The competition is to make a period cooking vessel. The rules:
documentation required, and the piece must be used on the Lilies site
during
Lilies War to cook or bake something in/on/over.... Judging to be done
by
HE Vasilla, HE Mikhail and Mistress Tatjana. (Bribes of food cooked
are
accepted.) ;)
Most Period Appearance for a Saxon, Viking and a Norman. The
competition will have two winners in each category. One in Combat Legal
Appearance and one in Non Combat Related Appearance. The Combat Legal
category will be judged before the battles Thursday evening.
Illumination Competition (painting preprinted Kingdom scrolls). We
will supply the preprinted kingdom scrolls, also the paints and brushes
(though entrants may bring their own). The entrants will have 4 hours to
work. The completed scrolls will be given to TRM to be handed out as they see
fit
Pottery Workshop
SCRIBAL TEA
Hosted by Conna (Falcon Signet) at her encampment in Three Rivers.
Currently scheduled for Friday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m.
This gathering will be open to anyone--current
scribes and people who are interested in the scribal arts (no
experience
needed).
THE THREE RIVERS' PLAYERS, IN JEST AND SONG
A lighthearted hour of period style skits, songs, and entertainment of
all
sorts, open to all.
The organizers of this hour long variety show would like to begin
recruiting performers. They intend that the show will be presented 3 times
during the war. If you are interested in performing, please contact:
