just a quick note to add to lord phillips missive.
we need to have teams onsite to sign in early! we will assemble downtown
(not too far away so dont worry) at 10am to begin the bearpit. remember,
teams are limited to 5 fighters (and one archer where applicable) but can be
fewer. so if your other two guys arent there in time, dont sweat it!
the bear pits will last 45 minutes each and are wounds retained. the heavy
fighters will go first and once they are done we will shuttle back to the
site to begin the remainder of the scenarios.
there are two separate competitions. one for the overall winning team, and
one for the highest placing baronial team. for a team to be a baronial team
it simply must carry their home baronys name. each barony may sponsor
multiple teams in both heavy and rapier.
also, please do let the autocrat know if you are planning on eating the
catered bbq so that we can warn them ahead of time with some realistic
numbers.

Subject: [MR] Return to Troy, and Request for Dance leader
I hope many of you are coming down for this event. We have a grand time
planned.
Return To Troy will feature several elaborate sets, including a motte
and bailey, tavern and storehouse to storm. We guarantee your fill of
fighting! Both heavy and light will use the sets, with archers
participating as permitted. Teams will be comprised of 5 fighters with
no more than 3 shields.
The day's activities will start with a team bear pit tourney fought in
the streets of downtown Elkin. This portion of the event is a demo for
downtown Elkin. Teams must participate in the demo-portion of the
fighting to be included in the other fighting scenarios. Combat archers
will not be participating in the bear pit. After the bear pit, fighters
will be shuttled back to site to begin a tavern battle, raiding the
storehouse, fighting through more redoubts, ending up at the motte and
bailey.
On Saturday evening the pool is reserved for us from 5-9, so bring a
suit!
Visit http://charlesbury.atlantia.sca.org/event/troy.htm for details on
the scenarios
I am looking for someone to volunteer to lead dancing activities
Saturday evening; we'll provide a sound system, and hava a FEW period
music pieces, but more are welcomed.
Reservations should come to me c/o TCA, 331 Standard Street, Elkin, NC
28621. Fees are 5.00 day trip, 7.00 camping, and checks should be made
payable to SCA, Canton of Charlesbury Crossing.
Please note that Feast is being handled separately. Please indicate in
your reservations whether you intend to purchase feast, which will be
traditional area BBQ, with fixings (slaw, beans, corn, etc). Feast is
$5.00 per person.
Getting here is very easy. Take your best route to Exit 82 on I-77 in
North Carolina. Turn downhill at the end of the ramp (right from the
north, left from the south). Stay on this road until you cross a long
narrow bridge, then turn LEFT on Market Street. At the next light turn
RIGHT on North Bridge Street. At the next light turn LEFT onto 268. The
park will be on your left about one mile from that light. It is about 6
minutes from the interstate to the park, and signs will be posted along
the way.
There are numerous hotels at the exit, but Hampton Inn has provided a
rate for SCA members of 59.95 (336-835-1994). Others include a Holiday
Inn (336-835-3000) and a Comfort Inn (336-835-9400)
Contact me with any questions: Phillip Jones, C/O TCA, 331 Standard
Street, Elkin, NC, 28621. You can reach my home at 336-366-2130, before
